Prepare to get Wicked

As my favorite streaming service has decided to allow commercials to invade my binge worthy shows, I’ve gone back to an old standby recently for a refreshing reboot. I’d always enjoyed plays, but musicals had not been as much of an influence in my life since seeing Dr. Doolittle and Oliver! as a little kid. So, when the opportunity to see, Wicked, at the Keller Auditorium in Portland came up, I felt a bit hesitant, because I knew its popularity would make it closer to a rock show than a play. However, it turned out to be amazing! After a slow start, where my head bobbed a couple times, the sets, the cleaver story twists, the costumes, and the belted tunes returned my faith and love of theater. There is nothing like seeing a popular show with 3,000 other people. The laughs and applause add to the atmosphere of excitement that give a pulse to the overall experience. I’m grateful that live theater is alive and well in the 21st century.
